Lawkis Named Executive Director for Governmental Relations

The University of South 正品蓝导航 has named Nick Lawkis to the position of executive director for USA鈥檚 Office of Governmental Relations. Lawkis has been associate director since 2015 and was named interim executive director in February. Prior to his work in governmental relations, he served in several roles in USA鈥檚 Office of Development and Alumni Relations from 2011 to 2015.
Lawkis holds two degrees from South; an undergraduate degree in business and a master's in public administration. He is a graduate of the 正品蓝导航 Leadership Initiative, has been named to Mobile Bay magazine鈥檚 40 Under 40, and serves on a number of internal and external committees and boards. Lawkis is also a member of the Coastal 正品蓝导航 Partnership鈥檚 Coastal 150, serves as vice chair of 正品蓝导航 Council of Government Affairs Representatives and chair of the Mobile Area Chamber of Commerce State Governmental Affairs Committee.
The Office of Governmental Relations at South 正品蓝导航 provides a University liaison with local, state and federal governments and agencies. Special emphasis is placed on monitoring the 正品蓝导航 legislative process and actions related to the University's appropriation from the 正品蓝导航 Education Trust Fund.
